NOTE: MSHA requires 14 day advanced notice of any Part 48 Training, Please be registered 15 days prior to training date.
This course is structured to meet the requirements of MSHA Part 46.5 New Miner training.
This course is intended for new miners, supervisors, construction and and independent contractors that need the full 24 hours of MSHA training covering all the mandatory subjects. After completion of this course you will receive your MSHA Form 5000-23 training certificate from your company safety manager or designee.
This certification is only good for the following types of mines:
• Shell dredging sand, gravel, surface stone, surface clay,
• Colloidal phosphate, surface limestone, marble, granite, sandstone,
• Slate, shale, traprock, kaolin, cement, feldspar, and lime mines only.
If you need to work at any mine type that is not listed above, then you need Part 48 certification. If you are not sure, feel free to call us 24/7 - An MSSC Representative will be happy assist you.
MSHA requires that your company has a training plan to take this course. MS Safety Consulting must be added to your training plan as a competent trainer for New Miner training. If you do not have a training plan, a template will be provided to you as part this course, you will then fill in the blanks.
If you need assistance, do not worry, we are available to help you with this. For a small fee we can put your plan together for you. Training plans are required by MSHA and will be asked for by the MSHA inspector during an inspection.
This course includes the full 24 hours of new miner training. After completion of this course you will be certified to work at any Part 46 mine for one year. You must complete an 8-hour annual refresher course within 12 months to maintain your MSHA certification. When you get to the mine you will be working at, they will conduct their required Site Specific training with you.
