The short answer is "YES". MSHA considers online training courses to be a perfectly acceptable means of training just as they do for courses available on CD-ROM or video. However, MSHA makes the important distinction that all of these means of training (online, video, CD-ROM) are to assist companies in complying with the requirements for training. There are some components of the training, site-specific hazards, etc., that have to be provided by your employer.
There are several companies conducting MSHA New Miner training online; however, if you read their fine print they are not providing the full 24 hours of training. Most offer only four or eight hours of the 24 hours
required by MSHA. We are one of only a few companies to offer the complete 24 hours of training online. Our training covers all the mandatory subjects required by MSHA plus additional safety subjects that are mining related .
Most of these other companies are training companies that have no mining experience. Our team possesses more than We 40 plus years of mine safety experience with 2nd and 3rd generation miners and MSHA training and Safety Training
are among our many specialties. When you finish our course, your instructor will complete a MSHA Form 2000-23 certificate and email it to you within the next business day. This will allow you to work on mine property right away.
Part 46 regulates the training and retraining of miners engaged in shell dredging or employed at sand, gravel, surface stone, surface clay, colloidal phosphate,
surface limestone, marble, granite, sandstone, slate, shale, traprock, kaolin, cement, feldspar, and lime mines only. Part 48 is for all other mines not listed above to include coal and metal mines.
If you are a contractor and will be working a multiple mines it is best to obtain the Part 48 certification. This will allow you to work on all Part 48 and Part 46 mines in the US. With just a Part 46 certification
you can not work on Part 48 mine sites.
Your modules for online courses will expire six (6) months after you purchase it (the date you submit payment), unless the course itself indicates otherwise.
